MORE AWARDS FOR MAZDA2 AND MAZDA6

Mazda has snared two coveted accolades in the Australia’s Best Cars awards announced in Sydney earlier this week.

The Mazda2 was named Australia’s Best Small Car and the Mazda6 won Australia’s Best Mid-size Car Over $28,000.

The Australia’s Best Cars awards are one of the most prestigious and comprehensive new car awards in the country. They are bestowed by the Australian Automobile Association on behalf of Australia’s motoring clubs – the NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, RAC and RACT – after rigorous testing of more than 280 new vehicles during the year.

Mazda Managing Director Doug Dickson accepted the awards on behalf of Mazda Australia.

“The Mazda2 has been a runaway sales success in Australia, almost doubling the levels achieved by its predecessor, and now it’s a critical success too.

“These awards are confirmation that the Mazda2 and Mazda6 meet not only the demanding standards of Australian new car buyers, but also the country’s most fastidious critics.”

The Mazda2 was commended by the expert judging panel for combining high levels of safety, value and practicality with sporting fun and driving ease.

"The Mazda2 comes at an affordable price, has good fuel economy, is a 'zippy' performer, and actually feels a lot more like an up-market vehicle,” said chief judge Ernest Litera. “It is an around-town car with real quality.”

The mid-size Mazda6 beat more than 50 rivals to win the most competitive segment in the award – Australia’s Best Mid-Size Car Over $28,000. Judges applauded the Mazda6’s class-leading safety features and the significant gains the Mazda6 makes in real-world performance while also improving fuel economy and reducing CO2 emissions.

The Mazda6, judges said, is a consummate performer in almost all measures.

“There is little to be critical of in Mazda6. Buyers can feel confident they will be getting a well-finished vehicle that's at the forefront of the class.”

These two awards bring Mazda’s medal haul to seven in the last week alone, with wins in the Drive Car of the Year awards going to the Mazda2 and Mazda3, and in the Carsales People’s Choice Awards to the Mazda2, Mazda3 and Mazda6.
