SPRINGWOOD is southeast Queensland’s new motoring mecca thanks to the opening of a new Audi Centre Springwood. The purpose-built new luxury car development was officially launched February 18th by a who’s who of the Audi industry, local politicians and sport stars.
They included Audi Australia CEO Andrew Doyle, Audi Ambassador Asher Keddie, Audi Ambassador Matt Moran, Logan Mayor Pam Parker, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, Olympic hurdling champion Sally Pearson, former V8 champion Russell Ingall and Nine news anchor Melissa Downes. James Frizelle’s has had a long and successful relationship with Audi on the Gold Coast, winning Audi Dealer of the Year twice before. James Frizelle’s new Springwood base is set to employ 70 people and the firm is investing around $30 million in the area. The Pacific Motorway through Springwood is now the only place in the southeast where luxury car showrooms compete alongside major manufacturers such as Toyota and Holden.
Dealer Principal Brett Frizelle said: “We have had a long and successful history with Audi and the opening of our new Springwood centre is a major milestone for us. We were captivated by the potential of the area for many years and the results we have enjoyed so far have been phenomenal.”
Audi Springwood general manager Tania Meli said: “We aren’t just buying more cars than ever before — the models we want and the places we buy them are changing too. “SUV sales are up 25 per cent on 2014 and now one in every 10 cars sold is a luxury model. “Queenslanders are demanding quality and convenience when they buy a car — and that means they no longer have to trek to a CBD showroom to buy a top-of-the-range car.”
