Audi – Turning cars into toys this Christmas

Sydney, 19 December 2011: This Christmas and New Year, the Audi dealer network is giving back to the Australian community by turning cars into gifts for children in need.

As a way of saying thank-you to the Australian community for another year of growth, Audi and its national network of dealerships have chosen to set aside money from every single vehicle sold in 2011, to purchase gifts and play equipment for children.

A handover ceremony was held in the lead-up to Christmas, with Mission Australia CEO Toby Hall, accepting thousands of gifts from Audi’s managing director, Uwe Hagen, and Gareth Bryant, Chairman of the Audi Dealer Association. Audi Ambassador, Matthew Burke was also on-hand to personally sign some balls for the children.

In partnership with Mission Australia, Audi’s Christmas gift project will reach thousands of children, and their parents, and will help to spread a little bit of Christmas cheer to those who may be affected by the current tough economic times.

Audi’s managing director, Uwe Hagen, said the brand was keen to send a strong message of appreciation to the community for supporting it’s 14,500 vehicle sales throughout the year.

By working with a national charity that helps to support children who may otherwise not receive gifts this Christmas, Audi, as a luxury brand, is able to share it’s successful business result with the entire community,“ Mr Hagen said.

Gareth Bryant, the Chairman of the Audi Dealer Association, and dealer principal of Audi Penfold in Burwood, Victoria, said the entire national network of Audi dealers to support the work of Mission Australia through this Christmas gift project.

The decision was made to put aside $5 for every single vehicle sold as part of the Christmas gift project. The Audi team then worked with Mission Australia to identify the toys and equipment that is needed to improve the circumstances of children in the community.

Nature Play Australia, Faber Castel, adidas, Simply Giving, and Preschool equipment, have all joined the Christmas gift project by supplying toys and activity equipment at a significant discount so that the donation goes further, and reaches more children at this significant time of year.
