The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans have helped turn the first sod of soil on the site where club sponsor James Frizelle’s Gold Coast Audi Centre will build its new Terminal.

Jetstar Titans captain Scott Prince and players Mat Rogers, Preston Campbell and William Zillman joined rugby league legend and Audi Ambassador Gorden Tallis along with Audi officials to help start work on the company’s new state-of-the-art showroom.

Audi Centre Gold Coast Dealer Principal, Brett Frizelle, said the official groundbreaking was an important milestone for the dealership team, which was the result of two years of planning with the final planning steps falling into place following the appointment of the building contractor – Spaceframe Building Pty Ltd.

“Our new Audi Terminal at 62-72 High Street in Southport will be a landmark for the Gold Coast. With 75 metres of street frontage on this busy arterial road, no-one will miss this extraordinary brand statement!” Mr. Frizelle said.

“The impressive facility will be representative of Audi’s outstanding achievements which include the title of the fastest growing luxury brand in Australia, along with multiple vehicle awards.

“There’s no doubt the new Audi Terminal will raise awareness of the Audi brand to a completely new level.''

Rogers said there were parallels which could be drawn between the Jetstar Titans and Audi, particularly given the Gold Coast club has just moved into its new $30 million home base – the Centre of Excellence, adjacent to Skilled Park.

“Audi are definitely are fast growing brand in the automotive industry, I think the fastest growing prestige brand,’’ said Rogers

“You’ve seen what the Titans have done over the last few years and we’re they’re looking at preceeding to in the future, I think it’s a good partnership.’’

The Frizelle’s Group has appointed the highly-regarded builder, Spaceframe Building, for this development project after a lengthy tender process.

Audi Centre Gold Coast’s plan to develop and open the site is also a clear indication of the brand’s growth potential in Australia in the coming years. This development is one of the most significant investments made to-date by James Frizelle’s Automotive Group.

The Audi Terminal is scheduled for completion in the 3rd Quarter of 2010, when Spaceframe Building will officially handover the keys to the building.

The three-level, 7,400+ square metre facility, was designed in Germany by Audi’s Master Architects and architecturally interpreted for Australia by John MacIvor of Design Imagery.

It incorporates a flagship retail showroom and customer facilities, state-of-the-art service centre, after-sales centre and a stand-alone approved used car showroom.

The facility will include showroom space for more than 25 new cars, 40 pre-owned vehicles and 23 productive service bays. The sales volume is expected to exceed 1,100 new and used unit sales by 2015.

James Frizelle’s Automotive Group purchased the Southport site in late 2003 and until recently, was home to their main used car operation which has now been relocated to a larger facility on the Corner of High & Bay St, Southport.
