Titans and Tallis turn the first sod at new Audi Centre Gold Coast site

Audi Centre Gold Coast has officially turned the first sod on the site where the company will build its brand new dealership facility.

With the help of Jetstar Gold Coast Titans Captain Scott Prince and players Mat Rogers, Preston Campbell & William Zillman and football legend and Audi Ambassador Gorden Tallis, Audi Centre Gold Coast held an official Ground-Breaking Ceremony on-site on Thursday 21 January 2010 at 1.00pm. Staff, customers, family and media joined in the ceremony.

Audi Centre Gold Coast Dealer Principal, Brett Frizelle , said the official groundbreaking was an important milestone for the dealership team - the result of two years of planning.

“Our new Audi dealership at 62-72 High Street in Southport will be a landmark for the Gold Coast. With 75 metres of street frontage on this busy arterial road, no-one will miss this extraordinary brand statement!” Mr. Frizelle said.

“The impressive facility is built following Audi’s global ‘Terminal’ architectural style and is representative of Audi’s outstanding achievements. Among these achievements are five years of record growth, the title of the fastest growing luxury brand in Australia , and multiple vehicle awards.”

“There’s no doubt our new Audi Terminal on the Gold Coast will raise awareness of the Audi brand to a completely new level here. We strongly believe this market will support the growth of Audi, and we want to provide the top level of sales and aftersales care for our customers. This new facility is the first step in this important growth process,” Mr Frizelle added.

The Frizelle’s Group has appointed the highly-regarded builder, Spaceframe Building, for this development project after a lengthy tender process.

The Audi Terminal is scheduled for completion in the 3rd Quarter of 2010, when Spaceframe Building will officially handover the keys to the building.

The three-level, 7,400+ square metre facility, was designed in Germany by Audi’s master architect, Allmann Sattler Wappner, and interpreted for the Southport site in Australia by John MacIvor of Design Imagery. It incorporates a flagship retail showroom and customer facilities, state-of-the-art service centre, after-sales centre and a stand-alone approved used car showroom.

The facility will include showroom space for more than 25 new cars, 40 pre-owned vehicles and 23 productive service bays. The sales volume for the Gold Coast facility is expected to exceed 1,100 new and used unit sales by 2015.

Audi Centre Gold Coast’s plan to develop and open the site is a clear indication of the brand’s growth potential in Queensland, and Australia, in the coming years. This development is one of the most significant investments made to-date by James Frizelle ’s Automotive Group.

James Frizelle ’s Automotive Group purchased the Southport site in late 2003 and until recently, it was home to their main used car operation which has now been relocated to a larger facility on the Corner of High & Bay St, Southport.
